While waiting for the fast boat to return me to my haven, I drifted from the crowds huddled in the shade of palm trees and wandered toward the water’s edge. The Sunday afternoon felt lazy, unhurried for me—yet out on the water, others were busy preparing for the week ahead.

A friendly “hallo” carried over the waves, pulling me closer. As I stood there, I wondered: do they take this beauty for granted, or do they see what I see? The shoreline alive with color, the water shimmering with light, the quiet splendor of working in paradise.

Splendor is a meditation on perspective—how what feels like work for some becomes a vision of beauty for others.
