My very first view of Bordeaux came while driving into the city along the riverfront—and it was nothing short of breathtaking. Everything I had studied and dreamt of in my years of architecture and design leapt to life before my eyes.

The best way I can describe it? A ginormous wedding cake. A decadent, multi-layered masterpiece, each row of buildings adorned with details as elaborate as sugar piping. Slim chimneys, mansard roofs, pilasters, mascarons, and ornate carvings layered one upon another—each building more spectacular than the last.

Noble House was among the first photographs I took during my month-long stay, a visual feast that still makes me smile. It captures the grandeur and ornamentation of Bordeaux’s architecture—delicious in every sense of the word.
