I was wandering through the hilly streets of Pharping searching for all of the historic Buddhist sites when I crossed paths with this man. We stood there alone with each other not another soul passing us on the path. Prayer flags, the typical trinket that is sold to tourist, were in his satchel. His presence drew me in and beyond the smiles and head nods, there was a quiet understanding between the two of us. The lines etched into his face spoke volumes of his life.
