My first view of Bordeaux was my drive into the city along the riverfront. The first glimpse was stunning and everything that I had read and dreamt of during my years of college studying architecture and design. The best way to describe the visual feast was to imagine driving up to a ginormous “wedding cake. A decadent, multi-layered, wedding cake. The rows of ornately carved buildings; each, just as, if not more so, spectacular than the one beside it. The slim chimneys, mansard roofs, pilasters, mascarons and carvings of fine detail stood out like absurdly decorative pipings on a cake. This image is one of the first that I shot during my month-long stay in those delicious surroundings.
